The most interesting thing about dorado fishing here is that fishing is done by wading crystal clear waters, almost impossible in other destinations. Moreover, the Dorados are hardfighting, wild jumping and brilliantly colored. The average of the dorados is around 5 pounds.
Within a three-hour drive from the airport Rio Seco Lodge is located close to the village of Las Lajitas, in the Province of Salta. The lodge serves over 20km of the Dorado River, which flows through the yungas (warm rainforest's), forming big pools and riffles where the fighting Dorado, the tiger of the rivers, is found.
Fishing season starts in April and runs through November. The rainy climate makes fishing almost impossible in summer because the heavy rainfall produces rapid runoff and turns the waters muddy. It can also complicate road travel.

The average size in the area has held between 4 and 8 pounds, even though larger fish are also caught.
