Tongariro Lodge is situated in park-like grounds on the banks of the Tongariro River adjacent to the southern shores of Lake Taupo. The year-round outdoor playground of Tongariro National Park is only a short distance away.

We believe guest use of guides is essential, regardless of the skill of the visiting angler. We strongly advise that guides are booked in advance.

For the dedicated fisherman or woman we offer opportunities to stalk and delicately present a dry fly to trophy browns and rainbows in high country streams during the summer months, upstream nymph fishing during the large rainbow spawning runs, or casting for feeding rainbows in shallow margins of Lake Taupo and other nearby lakes.

Wilderness helicopter and raft fishing into remote high country streams provide the chance to fish for the trophy trout of a lifetime. We welcome the opportunity to introduce newcomers to trout fishing. Tongariro Guides teach eager learners the fine art of fly fishing from the beginning.

We provide the enjoyment of a day's trolling on Lake Taupo in comfortable surveyed boats. No experience necessary.
