Fishing 101
So, you think you ought to learn a new hobby and it’s going to be fishing. There are a few methods of learning, the hardest way being trial and error, however, the best way is to find an expert for one-to-one instruction.
1. Get seasickness medication: If you’re going to fish on the water, nothing is worse than having your fishing trip ruined by seasickness. Most seasickness medication is very good (e.g. Bonine). Even seasoned fishermen take some on rough-weather days. Take one tablet before you go to sleep, another when you wake up and a third one before you go on deck.
2. Get a decent reference book: There are a lot of very good books available at your local bookshops or online. The book ought to give you instructions as well as the terms and definitions. There are some things you may not immediately understand but that you have to know anyway. One good thing is to learn how to tie different kinds of knots. This useful knowledge will also be invaluable for other purposes throughout your whole life.
3. Go to a party: There are party boats that carry from five to as many as sixty anglers. The boat provides everything you need such as bait, rod, reel, sinkers and hooks. They help you in fishing and even take the fish off the hook for you too. You will make new fishing mates and they will help and advise you. Party boats will generally cost you between $25 – $70 a day and the fish are yours to eat. The party boat is a bargain for beginners.
4. Pick your pier: Assuming you have already learned the skills to operate a rod and reel, you need to look for a fishing pier. The majority of seaside cities have a public pier or pay-to-fish pier. You can rent tackle and buy bait at these piers. If you do have trouble, there are many pier anglers willing to assist and give you tips.
5. To do party or pier?: You should try either step three or four times each or both at the same time at this point. The best thing to do is to practise them both methods several times to really learn how to do each method.
6. The reel way: The traditional reel is probably what you’ve got at this point. The traditional reel is made to take loads of wear and tear. However, perhaps you now want to think about purchasing a different type or / and make of reel. Ideally, you have already met other fishermen and perhaps made a friend or two who can assist you in selecting a reel. You could even ask a tackle shop owner for advice.
Firstly, you ought to learn the mechanics of the reel and the other equipment. Learning to cast, tie knots and bait is not really all that complicated. Secondly, you must learn where to fish. Successful fishermen know where the fish are swimming. Fish move from place to place and knowledgeable anglers understand these patterns and are able to work out where the fish are likely to be swimming.

Lots of people like the way that lures tend to be very colorful. They are usually hand painted and are made from wood, and finely carved into various shapes representing the types of foods that the fish the lure is meant to attract eat. Since fish will eat other fish as well as insects, most lures tend to try and mimic what a fish will normally feed on. Lures today tend to be mass produced and all look the same, but since these antiques were hand made, no one lure will be exactly the same as another, increasing the value greatly.

Catfishing In Ponds
There are three main sorts of catfish that you can find in pools. The tiniest of the three, and probably the ones that you’re going to spend the most time catching, are the Channel Catfish. The two other bigger species of cats are the Flathead and the Blue catfish. These last 2 can grow to incredible sizes.
Channel catfish mostly eat a trash diet — picking off bugs on the water’s surface and eating dead forage fish — which explains why they’re great for managed ponds. They also are easy to catch, and mainly, the populations have no problems surviving after a catch and release. Flathead catfish are famous for their insatiable appetite which makes them wonderfully simple to catch also. Blue catfish, from the other viewpoint, are tougher to find due to their eating habits.
There are two advised kinds of tackle that you can use for catfishing in ponds. If you are going to be fishing in a pool that has the larger spread of cats like blues and flatheads, then consider taking a medium action rod, with either a spinning or baitcasting reel.
Use treble hooks because these fish will simply suckle the bait off a single point hook. With the way that catfish treble hooks are designed, pussies cannot get the bait off, and when they have the hook in their mouths, they’re caught.
For smaller catfish, you may use mega-light fishing tackle. You should think about taking a few rods with you. Having a couple of lines soaking at the exact same time will increase your chances of having a greater catch. Allow your lines to soak, but ensure the drags are set loose on the reels.
With loose reels, the fish can swim off with the bait hooking themselves in the process. As soon as you hear the drag howling, tighten the rod down until you are feeling pressure, and begin fighting the fish. This is usually enough pressure to keep the fish hooked.
These kinds of catfish are typically easy to catch as long as you give your bait time to soak. You can also bud the water to bring the fish to you. You can toss dog food, sweet corn, or broken up corn flakes into the water to bring the catfish to your location, making them simpler to catch.
You can also try catfishing in ponds at night for the best chances at catching a lot of the bigger monsters. The big fish go roaming at night hence if you would like to catch them, your best chance is to go fishing after dark with larger, stinkier baits.
Noodling for catfish in pools has also become extremely favored. The essential concept behind noodling sounds easy enough initially. It basically calls for you sticking your hand in a hole, run it into a fish mouth, grab the fish, and pull it out of the water. It’s really much more convoluted than that and is essentially quite a concerned process.

My Take On Purchsing A Discounted Yacht At Boat Auctions

Most any type of marine related asset can be held in auction. Frequently auctions can be organized by category of asset, comprising from age period and/or the actual type of asset which is to be auctioned off. The thought of getting into boat auctions is appealing.
Most people think boats as unbelievably expensive and seemingly hard to come by. Since they’re generally portrayed through mass media as primarily existing in places where people are either completely surrounded by water, such as a coastal city in Florida or some reason that boat owners are extremely wealthy and have the bucks to buy boats. Interestingly, this isn’t always the situation. Most watercraft aren’t as pricey as they appear to be and may be comparatively inexpensive especially when bought via an public auction type platform.
Often what kind, or manufacture of the boat is as well before attending the auction. This is helpful information because it identifies whether it’s the sort they’re searching for or if it will be a great addition to their collection. Although most boat owners aren’t collectors like automobile owners. However , it’s also good to attend even if only to make sure nobody walks away with anything too cheap! Also auction details help the consumer in understanding whether or not they have the wherewithal to repair or maintain the vessel.
When the government holds an agency auction such sometimes the exact details are listed in the paper without notice. Or sometimes these details are advertised on a local tv station through a quick commercial, or even via. radio broadcast. Generally when listed in the newspaper, these events are listed under the classified section along with housing and property for sale or along with the sale of boats or recreational assets for sale.
Auctions that liquidate marine assets that are open to the general public can be discovered using your favorite search engine or via. a local auction house in your area. If you find a boat of interest up for auction online you can have it inspected or even a sea trial at the auction house prior to bidding. Boat auction houses will offer a collection of all types of boats from small boats and fishing boats to yachts and even commercial ships that will be sold for a set price where bidders can all bid on them. These public events that manage the fast liquidation of the boats are usually run by one company or individual with expert experience in facilitating key transactions of the sale including repair, storage, marketing, sales, and ownership transfer. It is possible to get into a local or regional auction by contacting the owner or lead organizer well in advance.
The boat auction field is one of great promise and interest for many bargain hunters. This field ties in all sorts of people, those who love to collect, those who love to bid and those who are particularly fond of recreational or commercial boats and yachts. Selecting one of these auctions online as a source for seeking out a boat is sometimes more fun and especially cheaper, for the same quality, than having one purchased new.
Before buying any boat discover new and used repossessed boats at boat auctions houses in the USA. Pay way less than your neighbor paid for his…years ago!
Bank Repo Bass Boats and Yachts Up For Auction
What fisherman doesn’t enjoy cruising the open water on their own boat or even a rented boat. Owning a boat is definitely a possibility not only for the well-to-do but also for anyone who’s willing to check a few boat auctions in the region for repossessed boats. Repo boats are available for quiet a bit less than most realize but are often stereotyped for being trash or too beat up. Now a days that’s not always the case. Those who believe that to be true often have never even looked at a boat at auction. Repo boats are sometimes more trouble than their worth but some boats show up on the block that are amazing deals.
If you’re a first time boat buyer choosing the best option for not only yourself but your family and friends can be overwhelming to say the least. Than add to that the complexity of buying a repossessed boat at auction and it can make things even more overwhelming. However, those who say repo boats are all trash simply have never searched that market. That leaves people like us with room to find an incredible deal.
Know what you and your families preferences are, and if possible list the things that you must have in your boat. This will determine the size and the features that you’ll look for. This pre-conceived idea will eliminate all the rest of the market that doesn’t fall into those specs.
Study the types of boats and their best uses based on you and your families needs and wants. Then decide on what kind of boat falls is most suitable. It will help you in your actual search to sit down and think this through.
Always put to paper a budget. If necessary, inquire banks or credit unions about their special loans that cover repo units and make financial plans. Also estimate insurance costs based on the age and condition of the boat you’re likely to buy at auction.
The boat’s engine is also an important factor you will consider. There is an option for diesel and gasoline, single or dual engines, each has its pros and cons. Gas engines are cleaner and cheaper units. It is faster but may have a shorter life span compared with the diesel engine. Diesel engines, on the other hand, have more torque and can be more economical.
After making a final decision on the details, the next step is to scout units. There are number of places to find boat repos. One is at a local boat auction, another is finding a boat owner who is selling his unit, or you could pay a broker to handle all the details of the purchase.
Insist on an actual sea trial of the boat before bidding. A surveyor should assess the boat, especially since it is a used unit. Make it a point to check the engine motor when it is not warmed up and listen how the engine sounds when starting. Check the meter gauges if they are working upon starting, the exhaust output should not bet black or blue in color. Handle the unit while cruising, check for the meters if they move up when speeding, check also for the temperature if it is not above the normal level. And finally, check for the feel and maneuverability of the boat.
Feel free to ask any questions. Don’t be scared to ask for proof. Be open-minded and don’t easily rule out a unit because its dirty or needs cosmetic repairs. What may look like a mess may actually be the reason why the unit is priced low, and getting it fixed may not be as bad as it seems. Above all get help with this if you don’t have experience buying boats.
Click here to discover more about repo boats in North America. Repo units are amazingly good deals, it is cheaper by up to 60% compared to the brand-new units.
Boat auctions are just one method of acquiring a boat without paying dealer prices. Boat repos found at auction enable lenders to make up part of the cost of a previous sale.

Fishing Tournament Tips
The US fishing tournament calendar is booked practically year-round. No matter what season is upon us, chances are you can find an event somewhere to hone your fishing skills and maybe even bring home some nice prize money while you’re at it. Fishing a tournament isn’t just about speeding off into the middle of a lake and wetting a hook, there’s some serious strategy involved if you want to do well. Success requires research, planning, practice and knowledge and those are just the aspects that you can control. The other side of a successful tournament is lots of luck and the cooperation of the fish – which are rather unwilling to negotiate a deal.
The first step toward filling your livewell on tournament day is knowing your opponent. Bass tournaments are pretty popular these days, so we’ll use them as our example. Food, oxygen and cover are the only three things that bass actually need to survive; however, when you factor in all of the different environmental influences that affect their behavior, they don’t seem like such simple creatures anymore. The influences that bass are susceptible to change at varying rates. Some change yearly, some seasonally, some monthly, daily, hourly and some changes can even take place within minutes. Any change in vegetation, water temperature, oxygen content, cover, water clarity and even weather will affect the fish’s behavior. It’s up to you to learn how they react to varying conditions so that you can be better prepared for any situation.
Next, get to know the waters your fishing in. A map of the lake is a great place to start and a topographical map is even better. Make a call to an area marina and see if there is a guide available for hire to give you a tour of the lake and fishing hot spots – make sure tournament rules allow it first. You can also gain a wealth of knowledge and tips from speaking to resident patrons of the lake who can give you a verbal tour of highlights and local fishing trends. Look at the recent weather history for any significant changes that would impact fish behavior such as heavy rains which would affect water clarity near run-offs or strong fronts which could affect water temperature.
Sudden changes in the wind or weather may force you to seek a more sheltered area to fish. It’s a good idea to choose several groups of alternate locations during your pre-tournament practice to fall back on in the event of adverse weather or unexpected changes in fish behavior. Map out a group of second and third choice locations and keep them handy in case you need them.
When you find your preferred spots during practice be careful not to over work them. Yes, it will fly in the face of your every instinct, but do whatever you can to NOT catch the fish. Shake them loose if possible and save them for tournament day.
Make time to visit local bait shops. Not only can you speak with the patrons and glean more valuable tips, but you can also see which baits and colors are selling well. This will give you a good idea of what the fish are hitting. Use a variety of baits and colors (not just the best sellers) in as many different areas as you can, you’ll not only verify what the fish are hitting, but you can also discover what they are not hitting which can be just as important to your strategy.
Finally, make sure all your equipment is in working order. Organize your lures, put fresh line on your reels, sharpen your hooks and prep your boat the night before. This will save you valuable time on the water. Prepare any special rigs you may want to use in advance and have them ready and waiting in your dry box. Time is important during a tournament so the more you can save by preparing early, the better off you’ll be.
Luck will always be a factor in fishing. Proper preparation, personal knowledge and experience can help lessen your dependence on luck and give you an edge of confidence. Know your opponent, be prepared, get familiar with your environment and don’t forget your lucky hat…. you’ll be in the prize money before you know it!

What Government Auction Sites Don’t Tell You
Some boat buyers just aren’t patient enough to take advantage of boat auction bargain hunting because there’s a lack of commitment in pursuing a boat at auction or they simply a half-hearted stab at it once or twice and when they’re unable to find their exact model on day one they promptly stereotype that all boat auctions are a scam or waste of time. In reality, nothing could possibly be further from the truth. Quick presumptions such as this serves auction goers all over the universe. It allows them to buy repossessed or any seized asset at a tremendous bargain.
When you get right down to it…the bottom line is that if you want to win and win big at auction you have to be patient, committed, and willing to put in the time necessary to find the cream puffs that everyone else over looks. Most aren’t willing to do that and wouldn’t know if one slapped ‘em up side the head anyway. Repo boats offer buyers great opportunities if you have an open mind. If you have the mindset however that all repo auctions liquidate trash then it will become a self fulfilling prophecy. There is a lot of trash that gets auctioned off. But that’s true of any auction and what you should accept in order to find a repossessed boat under valued by 60%!
One under utilized auction resource is Govt auctions. I will admit however, and tell you that in terms of water craft… inventory isn’t exactly over flowing. Once thing to realize that most auction sites proudly display is that, the U.S. Gov’t or the Coast Guard simply is not seizing “1000′s of boats and watercraft every single day!” Government agencies like GSA, USMS, and the Coast Guard do confiscate and liquidate boats but you’re just not going to find hundreds of thousands of boats to choose from. I mean how often does the Government seize a boat every day? Certainly not thousands as some auction sites boldly proclaim. So, like with any kind of bargain shopping venture don’t rely upon one venue to shop through. Government auctions represent a small piece of a big pie.
Transparent marketplaces like Ebay or Government Liquidation are ok places to start as you might find marine equipment, accessories, parts, or small boats for auction. But there’s typically only a small inventory available at any given time. Besides transparent market place like the above are ripe with bidders willing to pay more than retail if it’s something specific they want or need. So be careful not to get to excited about high traffic auction sites.
Boat Auctions sources like Boat Auctions Direct aggregates auctions but screen folks from just waltzing in and browsing inventory. Sources like these present a small one-time entry fee that discourages the tire kickers and thus makes services like these a good value. One thing I encourage you to do is specify what it is you want so you aren’t easily side tracked by some other shiny object. In fact many auction services will focus on the asset you’re interested in specifically as opposed to offering every asset known to mankind. It’s not free of course but wasting 2 to 3 hours finding a type of boat can be done in seconds with a few of the newer auction aggregation services.

A Family Guide To Deep Sea Fishing
Deep sea fishing is a great activity that many families enjoy. Deep sea fishing is a sport that can give you and your family fantastic experiences and unforgettable memories that can last for a lifetime. The amount of family bonding in a natural environment is simply wonderful.
If you’re new to this wonderful pastime, there are some things that you need to know before you commence with your deep sea fishing trip. It is indeed just one big adventure for you and your family, however, you should consider some things first to make sure your trip is a successful one. Other than not forgetting to take your camera for those thrilling snapshots, here are some things that you have to think about before making any plans at all.
Reckoning Time: Are They Up to it? First off, you need to take a realistic look at your family’s abilities and age. Lets face it, you cant really get the most out of a deep sea fishing trip if your kids are infants or toddlers. If you’re trying to decide what kind of excursion to make, these factors is important too.
This would be an important factor, even if you are thinking of using the services of a charter boat, since most boating companies have set age limits. Generally speaking, the lower age limit usually starts at about eight years old. You should understand that companies set these kinds of rules to guarantee your safety.
Furthermore, you should consider how long you want to stay on the water. Most inexperienced fishermen would rather half-day trips, because they are less tiring and yet still great fun for the whole family. On the other hand, experienced anglers would definitely rather an overnight trip.
However, regardless of how long you have been fishing, you should still remember that your family’s physical comfort could affect the overall enjoyment of everyone on the trip. Factors such as disposition and age play important roles in how your family can adjust to a sojourn on a boat.
Be Conscious of Distance: another important factor is how far away your preferred fishing location is from your house. The fishing packages available can vary greatly, depending on the charter company.
This means that the conditions and provisions that they offer on the boat will also differ. If you going to be travelling a large distance just to go fishing, you might be better off purchasing a package that is ‘all inclusive’, because it will provide you with everything you’ll need for the fishing voyage.
All inclusive packages such as these are usually fairly difficult to find, and naturally, they are usually far more expensive than normal day trip charter packages. An average charter package usually includes the bait and tackle, although, if you need a license, some packages include it, whilst others may charge extra for it.
Get to Know The Terms and Conditions: In general, charter boat owners ask you to bring your own hats, sunglasses, coats, sun block, medications for travel sickness and anything else that you think is important to take. Ensure that you are clothed appropriately with a series of warm layers, since it is far colder on the water than on land and you can always take something off.
Also, most of the day charter trip packages ask you to take your own food. If this is the case, you should act accordingly. Try to take items of food that are easy on your stomach, just in case the waters are rough.
