Follow These Suggestions And Catch More Carp

without comments

Carp fishing hasn’t been as popular in North America as long as it has been in Europe, but more and more people are discovering the excitement of carp fishing each day. Carp are very canny fish and sometimes it’s a lot of work to land one even though it’s not difficult to find a good carp fishing spot. If you do hook a carp, it can put up fierce resistance. In this report, we will spell out for you some tactics that work

The first area of concern is your equipment. It must be appropriate for carp fishing and, if you think you can just pick up a cheap outfit, you will be disappointed in your results. What you need to look for is tackle that is strong enough to withstand a battle with a large carp. You can find good gear for carp fishing without paying a fortune. The best weight of rod will be one of the heavy-weight models. A light-weight rod may be ok for trout, but it won’t work on carp. When you’re looking at rods, pay attention to the carbon based models. They are your best bet when you want to land a big fish. High-quality 12-pound line, at the minimum, is what you need next to ensure that it won’t break on you when you are trying to haul in your large carp. It should be easy to understand why it’s important to have the correct gear. Carp can be large and heavy so don’t short-change yourself in this area.

A dull hook will be worthless. You should check your hooks before each fishing trip. The consensus among carp fishers today is to use barbless hooks; however, there are both barbed and barbless and you can use either one. In fact, in many areas, these are the only type of hooks that are allowed. A lot of carp fishers catch the carp and then release it back into the water. If this is your method, by using a barbless hook you will prevent damage to the carp. It’s true that carp have an easier time getting off of a barbless hook; however, they tend to be suspicious of barbed hooks. One bad habit novice fishermen and women make is alerting the fish to their presence, which will drive them away. These fishers aren’t even aware of what they are doing wrong. You have to be really prudent when you are around carp fishing areas as carp, especially, are quite sensitive. Therefore, when you are getting close to your fishing spot, become as stealthy as you can. Try not to talk to the other fishers in your group or, if you must talk, do so in a whisper and only if you have to. When you are setting up your base camp or area, be as quiet with the equipment as possible. Avoid causing disturbances in the water, as this will only cause the fish to flee the area before you even begin fishing. You can add a sensitivity to vibrations to a carps sensitivity of odors, sounds, and light. Walk and move about with a soft tread.

Of the many foods that carp will eat, one of their favorites is corn. They love the taste, and the scent of corn will bring them to you. (corn-fed carp?) You can throw some corn in the water, or you can puncture a can of creamed corn with a can opener and throw it into the water. The carp will gravitate towards the odor of the corn in the water. In addition, other fish in the area may be attracted to the corn scent as well. This can also make the carp less suspicious of you and more likely to bite when you throw in your line and bait.

You will have more success fishing for carp if you know what their patterns of behavior are and become familiar with their way of life. Carp thrive best, and are more abundant, when the water in which they live is warm – between 60F and 70F is ideal. Carp become dormant and won’t feed if the water in their lake or pond goes below 50F. Avoid these areas if you want to be successful. Another thing to keep in mind is that carp like to shelter under manmade or natural cover and you have a better chance of finding them if you search these areas. Any trees or brush or reeds that are in the water, as well as floating plants, or even rock outcroppings, offer good cover for the carp. The best way to know ahead of time where to go to find the carp is to investigate the area before your first fishing expedition. Your skills will come with patience and practice. Keep this in mind if you haven’t done a lot of carp fishing in the past. Patience, of course, as we keep stating, is one of the most important skills a carp fisher can have. Keep learning and know that your results will continue to improve over time. When you’re out fishing, watch what the other carp fishers do. This is a quick and easy way to learn new tactics that you can employ in your own fishing. Don’t be afraid to experiment with the bait you use, the areas in which you fish, and when you fish. Take note of what gives you the best outcome.

Normally, going sport fishing is fairly expensive. One way to offset the costs is to get a personal loan. This will make angling more fulfilling, as you’ll be able to afford far better gear. Talk with your neighborhood bank to find out more.

To speedily and simply get authorized for an HDFC personal loan and get the revenue you will need, make sure you go to the HDFC personal loan site promptly.

Fishing the Cape Cod Canal

without comments

The Cape Cod Canal is amongst the most challenging and rewarding locations along the entire East Coast of America to catch striped bass. Few places on earth provide the shore bound angler a better chance at connecting with a bass in the 40 pound range. .

The man-made land cut has generated amazing fishing the past few seasons. The spring run of large striped bass has been just as impressive, if not more impressive than the famed fall migration.

If next spring is anything similar to the spring of 2011, enormous schools of trophy size striped bass should enter the canal during the second half of May. For the serious striped bass angler, the “Big Ditch,” as it’s referenced by canal regulars, could very well produce several of the biggest striped bass of the year.

Timing is Everything

The canal will support a population of stripers from May through October. But to truly cash in on great canal fishing, an angler ought to be at the canal when a large biomass of bass moves into the land cut.

Unfortunately it is inherently complicated to calculate when this will occur. However it will help to stay updated on Vineyard Sound and Buzzards Bay fishing reports. Stories of huge schools of surface feeding striped bass in Buzzards Bay will usually trickle in a few days, to a week, before a canal blitz.

These stripers are on a northward migration pattern that often brings them directly through the Cape Cod Canal – in contrast to the longer path around the arm of Cape Cod. At this time of the year the canal is full of herring, mackerel, and whiting as well as a plethora of other prey items. The canal effortlessly sets the stage for a world class fishing opportunity.

Top-notch fishing seems to occur in phases as biomasses of striped bass migrate through the land cut northward into Cape Cod Bay. Often time’s spectacular fishing will occur for a day or two as the school migrates through. A phase of slower fishing develops, before the next large push of bass happens a week or so later.

I remember a Thursday morning last season when anyone who could cast a plug more than 30 feet was into big bass. It did not take long for word to get out, and by the weekend the canal was stuffed with anglers. However the biomass of stripers had quickly exited the canal late Thursday/early Friday. I did not see a single striper taken that Saturday morning.

Top Water Bass Action

The top water bite at the canal can be downright nutty during the spring. To put it simply there are not many places in our neck of the woods where a shore bound angler can cast surface plugs to 30 pound bass.

With that said, not every angler will take advantage of the excellent top water action during spring at the canal. Very long casts in excess of 200 feet are usually needed to reach breaking bass.

Loading the tail end of an aerodynamic surface plug with weight can noticeably increase casting distance without harming the action of the plug. Using ultra thin braided line as well as the best rods and reels money can buy will surely help. However nothing can beat perfect casting technique.

Striped bass are relatively simple to fool with top water plugs when the bass are aggressive and focused in on larger prey items such as tinker mackerel. It can be a completely different predicament if the fish are focused on smaller prey such as juvenile whiting.

On several occasions last season, canal anglers witnessed schoolie bass feeding aggressively on small prey items at the crack of dawn. All efforts to hook these bass went unrewarded as it was nearly impossible to reach these breaking stripers with a plug that matched the small stature of the bait these schoolie stripers were feeding on.

However as the morning and tide progressed, the smaller prey items were replaced by much larger mackerel. Larger bass replaced the schoolies, and everyone began hooking up. Things change rapidly this time of the year at the canal.

Boat Auctions: Are Lenders Catching Up?

without comments

Much like the U.S. is struggling for economic recovery banks are still struggling to manage the wave of repo boats and other water craft that they were unprepared to handle beginning mid 2007. Boat prices similar to that of home values are showing signs of recovery but boat buyers will still be able to find incredible bargains at local and regional boat auction houses as well as motivated owners. But that window of opportunity may not stay open long.

National Liquidators who is one of the largest yacht and boat auction liquidators used to have as many as 500 repossessed boats and watercraft for sale and currently inventory around 300 to 350 units. There are signs that the boating industry is recovering for sure. A few years back when banks were in a state of shock with plummeting boat values and inventories rising they couldn’t give away the boats since nobody was buying them. But that was partly and perhaps significantly due to the fact that lenders weren’t able to see what values really were back then.

Suntrust Bank’s senior vice president Don Parkhurst, concurs and further comments on the remarketing of their boat repo collateral, “You’ve just got to lower the price to where you can move it. You’ve just got to take the hit.” According to Parkhurst the glut of repossessions and the subsequent money tightening has led several marine lenders to pull out of the market in the last year. Parkhurst continued with the fact that there is still an awful lot of repos on the market right now. Many of which are mid-sized cruisers which represents the heart of the boating market.

Lending Institutions are in uncharted territory with the numbers of repossessions and their plummeting values, and are trying to figure out how to catch up. With repossessions reaching unprecedented highs, lenders are scrambling to unload the vessels in an already flooded market and fetch enough money to avoid taking a complete loss.

Smart over seas buyers recognize the weak USD and are taking advantage of this boat repo glut. According to their records upwards of 50 percent of the boats from National Liquidators (one of the worlds largest boat liquidators) goes to Europe, the Caribbean or Canada.

While banks have been ‘taking a hit’ with letting go of their non-performing assets this has translated to some very attractive prices for mid-sized cruisers and performance boats. Buyers in the power sport vehicle market can also find value in this market as well. Many ATV, PWC, and RV owners have defaulted on their toys and forced to surrender it to the repo man. The result is banks have got to seriously consider letting the asset go as a ‘repo’ , take the hit and move on.

Repossessed Boats For Sale: Are Banks Liquidating Their Repos Cheap?

without comments

To the banks dismay they understand that as repossessed boats sit around at liquidators yards is they get that abandon, unkept look and feel. Banks know that boat buyers are good inspectors and any blemish or bubble can make a lot of room for negotiation. Some boat repos may have minimal if any cosmetic damage to the hull and just need a hard cleaning. However,But many buyers are unable to see past the grit and grime. Yes it is true if a boat looks like crap it probably is…but not always. A survey and sea trial will give you the real picture.

What’s going on now is bank are getting a little more down to earth (not desparate) but more willing to let their repossessed boats go at a price that leaves quiet a bit of equity. And I still see some room for price concession. As more repo boats show up for liquidation the more banks will be willing to liquidate faster and potentially for significantly less than the asking price.

Some boat repos have been mishandled or left unkept by marinas and liquidators and part of that has to do with banks not concerned about the care of their repossessed collateral. Having said that many repossessed boats are newer, well kept with little to no conspicuous damage. Most tend to focus on the percentage of those that are in bad shape and don’t realize there’s a mix of the good with the bad.

With the market being what it is, banks are certainly more than satisfied to get a 10% under asking price offer. I tried that a few years ago for some time. The Bank reps all told me those liquidation repo companies have an inroad or a standing contract with the lender that enables the liquidator to repo, repair, store and liquidate the boat at a price the bank is willing to let it go for. Boat repos on average are liquidated for 15 to 20% under market. But you can easily improve upon that by taking your time and look at more boats.

Before Boat Auctions Direct I used to manually approach bank managers asking them to alert me of any new arriving repossessed collateral that I could survey. Most were open to accept offers and then it was just a wait and see. However the boat liquidation company acquired the boat before I could but was still able to get first dibs on a new arrival and watch to see if it generated interest.

There’s still a surplus of repossessed boats out there. The proverbial window of opportunity to save at a local or regional boat auction is still open but the window is closing. Check out how you can keep an eye on local and regional boat auctions below. It’s great way to at least make sure nobody steals a deal right out of your ‘back yard’.

Boat Auctions or Bank Offers?: Can You Get To The Lender Before Auction?

without comments

If you have searched at any of the bigger boat classified sites it’s not unheard of anymore to see a considerable amount of the listings posted are ‘bank owned’ or bank repo boats. This seems to be particularly more pronounced with performance type watercraft. The question that frequently gets thrown around in blogs and community forums is whether banks and credit unions are desperate enough to accept serious offers as little as 20 to 30% of their asking price. Anything less than that and you will be hard pressed to get a bank to justify a response.

Making an all cash offer will typically give you more room to bid low. Your offer needs to be reasonable with respect to its market value and if it is… you can expect the lender to seriously consider your proposal and either counter that offer or based upon on how long the bank has been attempting to remarket the boat — agree to it outright.

Having said that it can be a real challenge to get the attention of the bank (who now owns the boat) before the 3rd party auction companies do. The goal is to offer a win-win deal . It is true that if the lender is presented an offer more than what they would pay out to a liquidator or a repo outfit with all the inclusive repair, maintenance, winterization, storage fees, etc. then they very well may be open to generate a quick sale. But it is a challenge to get to the decision makers. I like to just use Boat Auctions Direct to find bank or Gov’t seized boats to maintain my sanity to be honest.

The hard truth of striking up a deal with a bank on one of their repos is that often most lenders choose not to work directly with the general public. They opt instead to utilize experienced brokers and repo houses or liquidation companies for convenience sake. It’s just more systematic and more importantly they can concentrate with their core service: lending. Certain banks have so many boats in their control that they are buying fleet insurance coverage.

Realize that liquidators will often have a binding agreement established with the lender or credit union. Pre-determined terms are set as to how much liquidation companies profit from the transaction. The advantage for the bank is that they can leverage an established name (a local marina or liquidator) in addition to their expertise in addition to a storage lot to proficiently remarket the boat repos for lenders. Essentially the bank is going to try to claim at the very least the loan amount in default once the hammer drops to end the boat auction.

An common question is whether or not banks provide an opt-in list of bank repo boats going to auction? This may be true for smaller sized community banks or credit unions however , most often the bigger lending institutions are contracted with local or regional repo outfits or repo boat liquidation outfits to efficiently seize and remarket their collateral. In the latter case of smaller banks you can ask to speak to the bank officer who heads up the “special assets” department if they do not already have a dedicated web page for liquidating non-performing assets within their main website.
