Maldives Flyfish Explorer is a dedicated fly fishing live-aboard vessel that cruises the atolls of the Maldives in search of giant trevally, bluefin trevally, bonefish, triggerfish, and the extraordinary variety of tropical species that inhabit these pristine Indian Ocean waters. The vessel is purpose-built for fly fishing, with an open casting deck, rod storage, fly tying station, and a fleet of poling skiffs that deploy each day to work the channels, reef edges, and interior flats of whichever atoll offers the best fishing conditions.
The live-aboard format is ideally suited to the Maldives, where the best fishing is spread across multiple atolls and changes with tidal cycles, moon phases, and seasonal fish movements. The vessel moves between anchorages to follow the fishing, providing access to remote atolls and channel systems that land-based operations cannot reach. Giant trevally are the primary target, with fish prowling the channel mouths and reef edges where tidal flows concentrate bait. Sight-casting to cruising GTs on the flats is the pinnacle experience, but blind-casting poppers and large flies along reef structures produces consistent action as well.
Accommodation aboard the Explorer is comfortable and well-appointed, with air-conditioned cabins, an open-air dining area, and a sun deck for relaxing between fishing sessions.
