McCoy Creek is a Palisades Reservoir tributary on the Idaho-Wyoming line south of Alpine. Idaho Fish and Game lists it at 17.6 miles in Bonneville County. It enters the reservoir at the south end, not the South Fork below Palisades Dam.
USGS 13029500 McCoy Creek above Reservoir near Alpine, WY exists at 43.18055556, -111.1152778 (Bonneville County, Idaho in the NWIS file). It is not transmitting live discharge. Do not treat it as a live flow gauge. McCoy Creek Campground (USFS 43.1849, -111.1003) sits on Forest Road 087 at the south end of Palisades Reservoir, with a primitive small-craft ramp.
IDFG surveys in 2025 recorded Yellowstone cutthroat, brown trout, rainbow-cutthroat hybrids, and mountain whitefish. Special rule on McCoy Creek and tributaries: trout limit 6, no harvest of cutthroat trout. Palisades Reservoir tributaries also carry a no-harvest kokanee rule in the 2025-2027 IDFG booklet.
