About Abel

Abel is one of the most recognized American fly reel manufacturers, founded by Steve Abel in 1989 in Camarillo, California. Abel reels are machined and assembled in the United States and the company is known for both performance and a distinctive line of premium finishes — from native trout to satin colorways.

Abel is now owned by Mayfly Outdoors, which also owns Ross Reels, with manufacturing in Montrose, Colorado. The Abel lineup includes the SDS, SDF, Vaya, and Rove series, covering trout-scale through full saltwater applications.
