Cortland Line Company was founded in 1915 in Cortland, New York and is one of the oldest fly line manufacturers in the United States. The company is best known for the 444 Classic — one of the most fished fly lines of the twentieth century — alongside the Trout Boss and Precision series.
Cortland is privately held and continues to manufacture fly lines, leaders, and braided lines in the United States. The fly line lineup is mid-tier and remains a default choice for many anglers who grew up fishing the 444.
