The East Branch Fox River held a 15-mile historic Blue Ribbon trout reach in Schoolcraft County from M-77 to the Luce County line. Michigan DNR no longer keeps an active Blue Ribbon list. Inland trout water is typed 1 through 4 now.
This is tea-stained Seney country. Wild brook trout hold the East Branch. East Branch of Fox River State Forest Campground sits eight miles north of Seney National Wildlife Refuge on M-77, on the old 1936-1980 brook trout rearing ponds. USGS site 04048200 is at those ponds.
A second named crossing is Old Seney Road near Germfask (USGS 04048500). No live USGS discharge gauge sits on the East Branch. Confirm the 2026 Michigan Fishing Regulations and the Inland Trout and Salmon map before you fish. A published hatch calendar specific to the East Branch Fox was not found.
