Wyoming fishing license required. Area 1 stream creel: three trout per day or in possession, no more than one trout over 16 inches, and no more than one cutthroat over 12 inches, unless posted otherwise (WGFD Area 1, updated January 7, 2026). Live baitfish prohibited in Area 1. Upper Hoback around Bondurant is largely private. Stay on national forest, highway right-of-way, and posted access. Verify current WGFD rules.

The Hoback River runs about 55 miles from the Wyoming Range to the Snake at Hoback Junction, south of Jackson. It is a designated Wild and Scenic river. US 189/191 follows the canyon for most of the public water.
USGS 13019500 Hoback River near Jackson, WY is live (official NWIS: 43.30527778, -110.6801944). Native Snake River cutthroat are the fish. Upper meadow water around Bondurant is largely private ranch. The canyon from Granite Creek downstream is Bridger-Teton National Forest with repeated highway pull-offs.
