The Duchesne River drains the south slope of the Uinta Mountains, running from headwaters near Hanna down through the Uinta Basin. The reach from Hanna along Highway 208 down to the confluence with the North Fork holds wild brown and rainbow trout in classic freestone pocket water.
This stretch parallels the Mirror Lake Highway corridor and Uinta National Forest land, giving anglers a mix of easy roadside access and quieter water reachable by a short walk. Snowmelt off the high Uintas keeps the river running full into early summer.
