Blue Springs Creek runs about three miles from its namesake spring to the Meramec River, entirely within Blue Springs Creek Conservation Area near Bourbon in Crawford County. Missouri Department of Conservation manages this stretch as a Blue Ribbon Trout Area with a self-sustaining, naturally reproducing rainbow trout population, a rarity in the state.
Four springs feed the creek on private property upstream of the conservation area, keeping the water cold and clear year-round. This is small, technical water: narrow, brushy, and easy to spook. A former hatchery operated here decades ago; today's fishery is entirely wild fish.
Access the lower three miles from the conservation area off Highway N, south of Bourbon. A USGS gauge tracks flow near the spring source.
