Live USGS gauge Current River at Montauk State Park, MO. Official NWIS: 37.44791667, -91.6713611. Trout park hatchery and stocked fishing zones.
Live USGS gauge Current River above Akers, MO, near the Cedar Grove reach. Official NWIS: 37.37569444, -91.5528056.
Missouri fishing permit and trout permit required. Montauk State Park is a designated Trout Park with its own daily tag and season rules; verify current Missouri State Parks and MDC regulations before fishing inside the park. Downstream toward Akers and Cedar Grove, general Ozark National Scenic Riverways and MDC trout regulations apply.
The Current River flows through Montauk State Park and the Ozark National Scenic Riverways, the first National Park Service unit created to protect a river system. The Montauk State Park reach downstream to Cedar Grove is stocked, cold spring-fed water managed for rainbow trout, with brown trout also present in the broader river.
Montauk State Park itself is a put-and-take trout park with a hatchery, daily stocking in season, and designated fishing zones. Downstream of the park boundary toward Akers and Cedar Grove, the river opens into classic Ozark float water: clear, spring-fed, and cool even in summer.
USGS gauges track flow at Montauk and near Cedar Grove. This is a heavily used, well-documented Missouri trout destination; check current MDC and state park regulations, since Montauk's park water carries different rules than the general river below it.
