Crane Creek flows through Stone County near Galena in southwest Missouri, holding the state's best population of wild, naturally reproducing rainbow trout. Missouri Department of Conservation manages this drainage as a Blue Ribbon Trout Area.
Spring-fed and clear, Crane Creek fishes as technical water: small, spooky trout in skinny riffles and undercut banks. It is one of the few Missouri streams where rainbows sustain themselves entirely without stocking. A USGS gauge near Highway AA tracks flow through the managed reach.
The creek runs through a mix of conservation area and private land; stay on public easements and posted access.
