Utah fishing license required. Verify current Utah Division of Wildlife Resources regulations for the Ogden River, since urban and canyon reaches can carry different rules. Much of the restored urban section runs through Ogden River Parkway, a public city park corridor.
The Ogden River flows below Pineview Reservoir through Ogden Canyon and into the city of Ogden, where a multi-year river restoration project reshaped the urban channel, rebuilt riffles and pools, and improved trout habitat through the parkway corridor. This restored section holds brown and rainbow trout within city limits, an unusual setup for Utah's Wasatch Front.
The Ogden River Parkway trail runs alongside much of this reach, giving easy walk-in access without a long drive into the mountains. Above the restored section, the river drops through Ogden Canyon below the dam, a faster, rockier tailwater stretch.
