Cottonwood Creek runs through Straight Canyon on Highway 29 between Joes Valley Reservoir and Orangeville in Emery County, a stretch anglers commonly call Straight Canyon Creek or, in places, Clear Creek. Manti-La Sal National Forest borders the upper canyon.
This is a small mountain freestone dropping out of the Wasatch Plateau, holding brown and rainbow trout in pocket water and short pools along the canyon road. Flows below Joes Valley Reservoir stay cooler than unregulated nearby streams through summer.
