The West Fork Duchesne River joins the main Duchesne near Hanna, draining a separate drainage on the south slope of the Uinta Mountains within Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. This is smaller, tighter water than the main stem, holding brown and rainbow trout in a brushier freestone channel.
Forest Road access follows the West Fork upstream from its confluence, giving anglers a quieter alternative to the more heavily fished main Duchesne. A USGS gauge near Hanna tracks flow.
High-country snowmelt keeps this stream running cold and clear through summer, with best fishing after runoff subsides.
